Spin Her Free was an idea I had after hearing spinners talk about their experience spinning for a charity without transparent financial reports. A lightbulb exploded in my head: If all the spinners in the world spun together for a good cause - we could accomplish something BIG. I immediately contacted Mike Pauly at SpinOlution and said, “We need to do this, this could change the world.” Mike and I are both big thinkers, and after I explained to him what this could accomplish - he agreed it was worth the investment - and I hit the ground running.

I researched charity spin-a-longs and set a goal for 2000 spinners to participate. This is a drop in the bucket, but I had to start somewhere. I set the investment of each spinner to $25. This made the fundraising goal $50,000. I began to look for a cause that the spinning community could unite on, something that benefited women and could make the world a better place. I started researching charities looking for an organization with a big cause, a solid plan, and transparent financial reports. I found AIM and everything else fell into place in a single day:

I chose AIM because they are rated by Charity Navigator, the largest independent charity evaluator in the United States. They were given the highest rating of 4 out of 4 stars, and a score of 95.47 out of 100 for financial management, transparency and accountability. AIM had everything prepared for me to hit the ground running. They rescue AND rehabilitate, providing medical care, education, and jobs. In one day I was able to organize the charity on their website, so every dollar went to their program immediately, and every participant got a tax-deductible receipt. I didn’t need to do anything else. We were ready to spin.

The only criticism I have received is that I should be using the money to end human trafficking in the United States. For better or worse, I’m a big thinker, and I want this event to include worldwide spinners, not just Americans. I encourage everyone to find a charity working to end human trafficking in your town, state, or country - and donate to that charity to make your area & your nation a better place.

Thank you so much for participating.

Agape International Missions

Campaign to Support Agape International Missions

Agape International Missions (AIM) has served Cambodia for 28 years and fought trafficking since 2005, starting with a Restoration Home for 20 rescued girls. Now, with 12 projects on the ground that impact over 10,000 people every year, AIM programs are stopping the cycle of exploitation by preventing trafficking and rescuing, restoring and reintegrating survivors. Our goal is to defeat the evil of sex trafficking. This is done through a holistic strategy of fighting trafficking, restoring victims and transforming communities.
